Spring Break!

We went to Salt Lake for Spring Break this year. Left on Friday evening, Jaxon got car sick in the Salt River Canyon, stopped in Holbrook for the night at a 35 dollar room.
Jaxon woke up at 5:30, by 6:20 we figured it was time to get up, ready, and moving out by 7:30. When we got to Bluff, UT we stopped at a pioneer fort to check it out. We both read "The Undaunted," and we wanted to see where they ended up. It was amazing to see what they walked through because the land around there is very rugged and rocky.
Their log church house
We were able to find this awesome place to eat called The Twin Rocks Cafe. It had the best Indian Fry Bread ever!
The boys traveled really well! They both slept in the car for a couple hours and when they were awake they just played, sang, or read books. The rest of the trip was great until we hit the area right before Price. Huge Snowstorm! For a while we just followed close behind another car because the snow was collecting on the road and visibility wasn't good. The last two hours were hairy scary, but we still made it to my parents by 7pm. That's really good time! Jaxon remembered the place and went straight to the train toys. All my siblings were over so there were 5 boys age 4 and under. They had fun!
Sunday was another story; Jordan had a tummy ache, we lost an hour due to Daylight savings, and church was at 9am. It was amazing we made it to church. Jaxon fell asleep half way through the meeting. HE NEVER DOES THIS!! We all went home after Sacrament. Jordan let me take a long nap to catch up on sleep! Then my cousin and her cousin and mom came up from Provo for the afternoon and we caught up with them.
Monday was Discovery Museum and The Dodo for lunch. Yum!! Oh Yeah, and Kodee started walking!!!! At 17 months!

Monday night= bowling!

Tuesday and Wednesday morning were big shopping days! Tuesday night Jordan and I left the kids with my sister and we were off for our postponed Valentine's Day date. Awesome Italian at Biaggi's, Gateway Mall, and The Anniversary Inn! (Themed rooms for fun, romantic getaways if you don't know) I was surprised with the Phantom of the Opera room.
The water didn't work at all so we upgraded to the most expensive room in the place. The water didn't work until 11pm but we didn't care. Check it out! The Room with a View. We could see the entire Salt Lake skyline and downtown lights. Cool!
We had a great night's sleep and a needed getaway. Thanks Kimmy and Dave, and mom for taking care of the boys!
Wednesday we caught up with the family at Sweet Tomatoes followed by a Target run. I got some rockin' shoes, a new coat, and a cute dress that Jordan found in the girls' section. We also made a DI stop and Jordan was able to find a nice suit with 2 pairs of pants for a nice price! The boys loved playing in the store. They were all over the place!
Thursday was BYU day. We happened to get there during the first game of BYU towards the end- it was a mad house! That's why they call it March Madness! There was even a large crowd at J Dawgs watching the game. AHHHHHH! J Dawgs! We love it! I have to say the owner/founder of it used to be my brother's roommate!
We went to a performance of Godspell that my cousin, Kristen, performed in. We were all very impressed! She even sang in it and sounded just as good as the rest of them. Way to go Kristen! Right before it started Jordan went to the restroom and I thought Jaxon went with him. When Jordan came back empty handed we knew Jaxon was lost. I can't believe the first time we lose Jaxon it's in the HFAC at BYU. A secretary found him riding the elevator. WHEW! He could have been anywhere! He did really well in the play because he played the Nintendo DS the whole time. Kodee was great especially when my dad got him to sleep. Way to go dad! Afterwards we went and partook of the BYU creamery. Now that's great ice cream! I have to say, though, that those waffle cones were the crumbliest things ever! That night my mom went all out and made Cafe Rio pork, the dressing, and beans. It was sure tasty mom! Thanks for all you did for us while we were there! We only had time to see Jordan's friend Garrett Coates and his family, and my friend Megan. We always have fun playing games with her! I'm sorry we don't live closer.
Friday we packed up everything and the van and headed for home after lunch. The boys fell asleep right away which left me a good amount of time to read to Jordan. I love when we do that! I even did British accents. This time we went the Kanab way and we got there by 6pm. We found another hotel room for 35$ and this one was a lot nicer than in Holbrook. It even had a hot tub. Jordan was so excited about it. Never mind that it was 50 degrees outside. We ventured there after dinner and two seconds after we put Kodee in the water he started screaming. I gave him to Jordan and he wouldn't stop. It was just too cold. After 1 minute we sprinted back to the room so we could all share the tub to warm up. I've never seen the boys so cold. Sorry boys, your dad apologizes for being so crazy. We got to bed fairly early that night, but Jaxon turned sideways in his sleep so he kicked me all night and had his head in Jordan's ribs as well. Once again the boys traveled really well with no problems until we stopped for lunch at the Cracker Barrel. We all enjoyed our lunches. Jaxon was doing this thing where he had to have whatever daddy had so we had to get him some more mashed potatoes. It amazes me how much Kodee loves french fries. Jaxon doesn't like them at all. Jaxon found a little tractor in the gift shop and he thought he was going to take that home. Well, there was no way we were going to pay $13 for a little tractor. He threw the biggest fit. Jordan had to practically drag Jaxon out of the store. Luckily we found some train stickers that finally got him to calm down. We got home around 6pm. The boys were so ready to be out of the car. Jaxon started running down the sidewalk with the wagon while we were unloading the car. Our good neighbors saw him and Ariel came over and volunteered to watch them. That was so great because we had to get groceries and dinner. That was so helpful and it was a perfect end to our wonderful Spring Break! This picture is of all the grandkids of my parents. Samuel, Kevin Jr., Benjamin, Kodee and Jaxon
