Since I was so sick last week, I couldn't even think of getting on the computer and blogging, but I have a spare moment here at school so I thought I'd fill you all in on last weekend.
I took some of my girls on my first big school trip down to Gilbert for an honor choir middle school thing. I felt like it was a rite of passage for me and I've crossed over into adulthood. I got slammed with the flu late Wednesday night of that week and Thursday and Friday are completely gone in my memory. I was pretty much comatose those two days. I talked Ari into taking the boys up to Gilbert Friday night, so she could be up there (kinda) with me on Saturday. She stayed at Joanna's with the boys, and I was so proud of her for taking them all by herself and flying solo. She did great, even with Jaxon getting carsick and throwing up, and Kodee waking up at all hours of the night.
I got about 3 1/2 hours of sleep that night, and then had to wake up and get going by 4:30 am on Saturday morning. The trip there went great, but I was feeling pretty out of it the whole time. My head felt like it was stuffed with cotton. It was such a great experience for my students to get to sing with other students of such caliber, and they had a great time. I just tried to make sure they were all happy all day, and no one was feeling left out.
Ari ran around and did errands while we were in rehearsal. She was able to make it to the concert and she brought Kodee. Right before a very slow song called, "Ave Maria" there was a very long, dramatic, stone-cold silent pause. Well, Kodee chose that moment to let out the biggest diaper bomb/ booty rocket, EVER! Everyone around us was dying laughing, it was pretty funny. I swear I'd never heard a little baby explode so loud before, and it's always at the best moments right?
Afterward, we went to the Olive Garden and had to wait almost 2 hours to be sat. (Isn't that always the case with Olive Garden?) But it's where the girls really wanted to go. Jaxon then came and met us there with Ari and Kodee, and he was NOT a happy camper. It was probably the worst restaurant experience of his to date. He was inconsolable. We then headed back home, and though we were SO tired, we made it home. I was proud of our little weekend trip. It took til Monday for me to be completely over the flu I had. Now Jaxon is into his coughing phase, and cold phase, so I'm hoping against hope that doesn't spread through us all. Ari and Kodee have still miraculously been untouched.

Sounds like lots of fun! Way to go Ari, I like to see a woman that can be a little independant and get things done!
