This year we went to Pinetop for Thanksgiving. We planned to leave early afternoon, but of course our van was in the shop that Monday and Tuesday for a new taillight and the heater/AC was out. They were able to fix it all except the defroster in time for us to leave. I tell you what; I love going on trips, but I hate the couple of hours right before you leave. IT is soooo stressful for me; all the cleaning, packing, last minute details, keeping the boys out of trouble, etc... Jordan always comes home to load the car and I'm usually pulling my hair out. We made it out okay and made excellent time to Pinetop without having to stop. We enjoyed a Mexican meal over at Jordan's brother's house before the rest of the family got there. We stayed in a hotel down the road and Jordan and Jaxon sure enjoyed the indoor pool! The boys were so excited about the room. Jaxon had to check out every button, lamp, door, and crevice of the room. Then he wouldn't go to sleep til 12am after watching movies on the travel DVD. Kodee had to cry himself to sleep. I ended up basically sleeping with Jaxon almost the whole night; weird night.
Turkey day was a good one though. We got over to the house around 11 and Jaxon was outside playing in a minute. Jordan and I helped where we could- getting out appetizers. Homemade cheeseball is fabulous! Jenny and Richard were amazing with the food and their organization.

Everything was homemade; we even had three different turkeys each cooked a different way. The fried turkey was the favorite I think. I was surprised how good it was. It was all very enjoyable.

We all took a long walk after the meal so we could make room for dessert- I mean, we threw the football around, the kids rode their bikes, and we all took turns walking with a different family member. BAck at the house the littler kids stayed outside as long as possible. Jaxon played soooo hard. He loved having older cousins to play with. The adults enjoyed playing some games like Scrabble. That became the game of Thanksgiving, I think. That night at the hotel was a nightmare. Jaxon fell asleep in the car even before we left the housing developement, but did he stay asleep? NO way! Jordan and I each took turns laying with him til he finally fell asleep. Kodee would not go to sleep. Jordan would get him to sleep by walking up and down the halls, and the second we set him down he was awake. He cried for over an hour- no luck. We're just glad Jaxon didn't wake up. I gave Kodee some milk-that worked for awhile, then, screaming. He finally gave up around 10:30. Jordan and I sneaked in the room and read our books by the light of his phone. Kodee cried out about every hour and Jaxon had a huge scream. What were they dreaming about? I took the boys to breakfast. Kodee screamed until he got his cereal, and Jaxon wanted all the food and I think he had one thing of yogurt. Then he wouldn't keep his shoes on and the workers at the breakfast were nazis about keeping your shoes on. Then Jaxon spilled milk all over. Then this old man wouldn't stop staring at us with a scowl on his face. I was glad when we checked out of that hotel.
We went back to Richard's and played until about 5 and then we headed off. The drive back wasn't to bad either; the boys slept for half of it and the Jaxon just kind of dazed about the other half. Kodee was done about 45 minutes out so we had fun trying to talk over his crying. The boys were very excited to be back in there beds. We put the Christmas tree up before bed and Jaxon couldn't have been more excited. He oohed and ahed at the lights. He plugs them in every morning-too cute. And he can actually say Christmas tree. And Santa. And presents. Oh boy. Kodee's face when he saw the tree was classic. He put his mouth in the shape of an oo and just kept it there for a few minutes.
Saturday was decorate the rest of the house. I love decorating for Christmas. We always have fun listening to music and deciding where everything should go. We take down most of the normal decorations to make way for Christmas. Things couldn't be better. Ever since the tree had been up it makes the room so much cozier that we don't want to leave the house. Jordan stayed in the recliner from right after church til bedtime last Sunday.

We've had a hard time getting back into the swing of things this week. The only drawback to having little breaks- going back.

I just love deep fried turkey-I see that you like popcorn as well-have you tried using rice oil as it works the best for homemade popcorn.
