It all started with our friends, Stacy and Chad, throwing out the idea randomly on Wednesday. Chad facebooked us and said we should go camping this weekend. I read it and laughed, "yeah, like that will happen." :) Ari read it and was like, OK! Let's go!
Huh? I thought for sure with the baby and Jax she wouldn't even consider the idea, but she was all for it. So the preparation began. Ari went and got us a tent, some sleeping bags, packed us all up, and we were ready to go by Friday afternoon.
The boys did surprisingly well. Jax loved being outside. He didn't enjoy how cold it was the next morning though. He loved watching Chad throw Capri a fetching stick. He loved going on hikes, and INSISTED that he walk himself over the steep terrain.
Chad brought out a ball and some gloves the next morning, and Jax LOVED playing catch. We definitely have a boy's boy in the making. Kodee was bundled up the whole trip. He loved sitting by the fire and snuggling with Ari and I.
It was a little tough getting Jax to sleep, but once we did we were able to enjoy some good, grown up bonding time with Chad and Stacy. Great campfire talk. I attempted a scary story, but realized I'm not 12 any more and scary stories aren't as cool as they used to be.
Oh yeah. . .we did forget to buy aluminum foil for our foil dinners, so we had to be creative. We used the skillet we brought for making pancakes, and stir fried it up over the coals. I think it turned out better than it would have in the foil. (Poor Stacy and Chad burned their's. . .) sorry guys!
I think we could become quite the camping family. We sured enjoyed it, and it was SO nice to get away from the world and bond with nature (and long lost Chandler buds! Thanks again guys!)
By the way. . . Kodee reached his 6 month mark! Yeah- now he's on to rice cereal. He has not been acting fully satisfied lately with his nursing, so we're gonna have to get him on formula or baby food or something, cause we miss his 24/7 smiles!
Jaxon had his first dentist appointment this week. I'm sad to say he's on his way to being "dentally retarded." The tooth decay on his front two teeth is pretty bad and has to be removed soon, or it will go into his roots and permanent teeth. The dentist could also see that his pacifier obsession has been affecting the way his teeth are growing in. RATS! Well, we'll be in the long haul for braces I guess. We couldn't believe that the dentist said Jaxon did SO good while he was getting his teeth cleaned. We were like, "are you sure you're talking about our son?"

You guys are brave to go camping. It looks like it was smooth sailing and you all had fun. I can't believe how big your boys are getting. Kodee is so cute! 6 Months sure has flown by.
Yes, he was talking about your Jax . . . naughty Daddy!
Good for you Ari! A little impulse is SO-O-O good for everyone! I miss just packing up and taking off to do something like that! You know back in the olden times when we used cloth diapers, no baby wipes, what women we were! I wish you had been nearby here, we some how have accumulated way too many tents. Most have just been used once or twice, you could have helped us clean out our garage!
Did Chad and Stacy use to live in Litchfield and then moved to Yuma? I think they were in our ward in Litchfield park - they look so familiar.
Thanks for spontaneously camping with us! We had a lot of fun. Chad and Grace are both still talking about it. Don't forget your chairs next time!
What a BLAST!!! We are definately a camping FAMILY!!! We don't go as much as we would like but we LOVE going whenever we get the chance! Looks like you guys had a blast!!!Hope your hooked!
