Alright folks- for you Harry Potter/Twilight fans out there, this book is for you. We were recommended this book by a friend over Christmas Vacation, and I just remembered this week to go by my library and check it out. Ari and I were both riveted instantly. We've been reading it together at night and it's been a lot of fun. It's futuristic with a lot of suspense and not very violent (a hard combo for Ari to find, but that's the perfect combo for her.) The plot of the story is very intriguing and kind of a brilliant idea. A world where everyone is born thinking they are ugly, and that they have to turn pretty by an operation at a certain age. Let us know what you think.

I've read Uglies, Pretties and Specials. Danielle Porter told me about them. I LOVED Uglies, liked pretties and wasn't too fond of Specials. I guess I just didn't like the way the story ended...and it had a little too much political push in it toward the end...but I love the idea and the overall message it sends. Hope you enjoy it!
My brother and his wife have read the series, and I have read Uglies and Pretties. I thought they were ok, but after Pretties, I kind of lost interest and didn't bother to get Specials from them. But I'm glad you guys are enjoying them! It's fun when you have something you can read together and talk about. I don't know that Ryan and I will ever find that book :(
Thank you soooo much for the recomendation Jordan!! My daughter has read all the twilight books twice and refuses to read anything else because there is nothing out there!! We will try it for sure!
You guys should try the Hunger Games. Its kind of along the same lines as the ones you are reading. It is a little violent but very interesting. It leaves you hanging at the end and the sequel doesn't come out until later this year, so you could probably wait. Anyway, my little sister has read all of the Uglies books, so I think I need to check them out.
yeah I read this whole series a while back...I didn't know you hadn't heard or I would have recommended it earlier. Out of all of them, the last book "Extras" wasn't that great...it seemed like the author was just taking advantage of the franchise of the success of the other books with it, but Uglies, preties, and specials were all enjoyable.
