ACDA and pictures galore!

Well Ari and I had a nice little trip this past week. We went to Anaheim, CA for the Western Conference for ACDA (American Choral Directors Association.) It's so nice that I have a wife who loves to come along for my work professional development and finds as much interest in it as I do. It was 3 days straight of intense choir performances, workshops, and reading sessions. How many married couples do you know that can go into a room with some of the country's best musicians and hold their own in sight-reading sessions! It was so much fun to share that with her. My favorite workshop was a jazz/improvisation vocal class. I got up in front of the whole class and did some scat singing with the instructor. Pretty gutsy of me, but it felt so good to get up there and put myself on the spot. My other favorite part of the conference was seeing an outstanding show choir perform from Anaheim. It just reassured me that I'm doing what I love and if I can have a choir like that someday, it'll all be worth it.

My mom and dad watched Jax while we were gone and said he was an absolute angel. We are so lucky to have such a happy, cheerful little boy. He didn't throw one tantrum or go on a crying fit for them. He saved that till we got home, and sure enough he's back to his old ways. We had these pictures taken last week and were pretty excited with how they turned out.
